What is a "treatise"?

"treatise" - a formal and systematic written discourse on some subject concerned with investigating or exposing the principles of the subject and it's conclusion.

Martin Luther's arguments which he nailed to the church door were also described using this word. It is thus not merely a collection of memories, but rather the outcome of intensely studied, evaluated and tested material which is not for entertainment purpose, but for purpose of providing necessary evidence to prove or disprove a certain facts. This is extremely important for us to understand, since it provides the scene on how we are to approach this information. This is not a storybook which we can just casually read. It is also not the original subject matter. Instead, it is explanatory material, but of a technical nature, that needs to be approached with the necessary attention to detail and critical thinking to understand.
