What exactly is the difference?

Examples of the Gospels:

We often say that we read in the "gospel of Matthew", however there is no such thing. Rather, it is the "gospel according to Matthew". The difference is quite significant, since we need to remember that these are eyewitness accounts and not made up stories. They were not written based on the imagination of a certain person, but rather based on the eyewitness account which reports on what such person has experienced.

Exactly who the authors to each of the books are, is unclear and disputed. In some cases it is also known that the books were not directly written by the one according to which they are named.

Language, Translations and copies:

Not only in our modern age today do we have various translations for the same text, neither is it new for each individual to desire their own personal copy. Already in the most early reported timeframe do we read that text was convered, copied and distributed:

1.) Josef was reading in some language

2.) Nebuchadnezzar
