This page is dealing with a very difficult topic and is thus an ongoing project. For me, Baptism remains a very grey area and hence the research is ongoing.

== Yahushua and his baptism ==
Luk12:50 AMP “I have a baptism [of great suffering] with which to be baptized, and how [greatly] I am distressed until it is accomplished!

Mat20:22-18 AMP “I have a baptism [of great suffering] with which to be baptized, and how [greatly] I am distressed until it is accomplished! He said to them, “You will drink My cup [of suffering]; but to sit on My right and on My left this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” And when the [other] ten heard this, they were resentful ''and'' angry with the two brothers. But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles have absolute power ''and'' lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them [tyrannizing them]. “It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your [willing and humble] slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [paying the price to set them free from the penalty of sin].”

== Swearing by his Name ==
Deuteronomy 6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Jeremiah 4:2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

Jeremiah 4:3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

==== Verses where this word occurs ====
Jeremiah 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench [it], because of the evil of your doings.

Psalm 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

== Begotten ==
Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

=== Father and Son relationship ===
Remember the concept the relationship between a Father and a Son in a hebrew context. Contrary to our modern understanding of individualism, where we regard each person as an individual. Father and Son are completely separate, do not work together and in no way necessarily even work together, for example it used to be the case that the Son would follow the line of work his Father practiced and take over the family unit. This is no longer the case, children now rarely follow the path of the parent but regularly follow a completely different career and lifestyle, sometimes even at a different physical location, even another country.

This is not how the hebrew perspective views the connection or relationship between a Father and a Son, in Hebrew context, the son is very much connected to the father in fact, considered more an extension to the Father rather than a separate individual. This connection rains over all aspects and we find the result thereof often in scripture for example where Yahushua accuses the Sadducees and Pharisees at the river where he was preaching, accusing them to be vipers who are of a different Father and the will of that Father, that is the will they are doing.

Yahsrael is also prohibited from calling anyone else their "Father". Why is that? It is because the Son is connected to the Father and the Father to the Son.

Yahushua states that he and the Father is one. This could be interpreted spiritually in the sense that Yahushua and Yah Almighty are on the same page or engaged in the same effort spiritually, which is true aswell, but the relationship goes deeper than that, since Yahushua also refers to his followers as brothers. Brothers have the same Father.

We have further information from those that are specifically excluded from the chosen people such as the woman that begged for help from Yahushua. Yahushua responds to her that it is not nice to give what is intended for the children to the dogs. The woman does not dispute this fact but still begs for mercy to receive the crumbs which the children drop on the floor. The point is, this woman obviously agreed spiritually with the cause and effort of Yahushua, hence also with that of Yah Almighty, but despite that, she is not regarded as a sister, since she is not of Yahsrael. The physical therefore exists concurrently with the spiritual and both apply at the same time.

Important to understand that the opposite is also true. Where Yashrael decides not to align spiritually, repent of their adversities but are physically descendants of Jacob and hence Yashrael, those Yahshua instructs his disciples to dust off their clothes and leave such people for their own demise.

=== So what is begotten? ===
Begotten is the fulfilment of the promise from Yah Almighty towards Yahushua with regards to his inheritance. Yah Almighty determined for Yahushua a far greater inheritance than what he already qualified for. He allocated to Yahushua that which the previous Arch Angel desired and tried to take by force, namely to be uplifted to the side of Yahushua.

Whether this means to be of equal standing or not I am not sure, but the point is still that the position Yahushua obtained by being bestowed to the right hand of Yah Almighty and the earth to be made his footstool, is an extremely high position. In the book of Jashar we read that with this is also what the tower of babel was all about.

A very important question remains, namely the formal act, ritual or declaration which Yahushua had done, there at the waters with John to which the Father Yah Almighty reacted by pronouncing this declaration, since to me that is what we so randomly refer to as "Baptism" is what Yahushua did.

The argument as to one should get baptized because Yahushua set the example, while valid, should be very carefully researched, because the risk exists that with baptism we perform a ritual or declaration which we think is correct, but in fact is not.

With regards to the church, this statement is already true, since the baptism of the church essentially entails the laying of the chains of bondage and subordination on the newborn child, while such child is under the stewardship of the child's Father. This off course Yahushua would never have done, since it is principally against the law to make contracts with anyone but would also clearly constitute high treason towards his loyalty to the Father Yah Almighty.

The baptism of the church is very practically displayed in especially the Amish community, where members are shunned once they are no longer obedient to the church. The Amish Church shuns these members excommunicates them and requires also all other members to side with the Church against the excommunicated member, claiming that the members lied to them under oath during baptism where such member promised their loyalty towards the Church.

== Born again ==
AW Pink - Regeneration is termed a "new birth", or birth from above. Birth however excludes altogether any effort or work on the part of the individual who is born. Personally, we have no more to do with our spiritual birth than we had with our physical.

== The words used ==
When restricting oneself to the scripture alone, it is necessary to understand that we are restricting ourself to the written form of communication. Why is this important? Because the written form of communication is a "middleman" that conveys the message to us. This middleman however only delivers the message, he does not ensure that we <nowiki><u>read</u></nowiki> the message correctly and also does not tend to the <nowiki><u>understanding</u></nowiki> of the message he so delivers.

Hence, when we read, we should not be ignorant in what we think we understand, but need to take great care in examining exactly what the messenger is conveying and ensuring that our understanding is accurate.

Therefore, before we go into any specifics, lets summarize the particular words used surrounding this concept of baptism. We will follow the Strongs concordance references to identify those words, however will consider multiple definitions or sources when exploring the meaning thereof.

=== G911 - Bapto - βάπτω ===

==== Per Strongs - full entry: ====
βάπτω báptō, bap'-to; a primary verb; to whelm, i.e. cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament only in a qualified or special sense, i.e. (literally) to moisten (a part of one's person), or (by implication) to stain (as with dye):—dip.

Upon analyses - two possible options stand out:

<nowiki>#</nowiki> "to immerse, dip" (derived from the root signifying "deep")

<nowiki>#</nowiki> "to dye", which is suggested by Rev19:13

, the meaning is to whelm, that is to cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament however, this word according to Strongs is used only in a "qualified or special" sense, namely, (literally) to moisten a part of one's person, or (by implication) to stain as with a dye.

==== Per Thayer's Greek Lexicon - full entry: ====
βαπτίζω; [imperfect ἐβάπτιζον]; future βαπτίσω; 1 aorist ἐβάπτισα; passive [present βαπτίζομαι]; imperfect ἐβαπτιζόμην; perfect participle βεβαπτισμένος; 1 aorist ἐβαπτίσθην; 1 future βαπτισθήσομαι; 1 aorist middle ἐβαπτισάμην; (frequently [?] from βάπτω, like βαλλίζω from βάλλω); here and there in Plato, Polybius, Diodorus, Strabo, Josephus, Plutarch, others.
I.
1. properly, to dip repeatedly, to immerge, submerge (of vessels sunk, Polybius 1, 51, 6; 8, 8, 4; of animals, Diodorus 1, 36).
2. to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water; in the middle and the 1 aorist passive to wash oneself, bathe; so Mark 7:4 [where WH text ῥαντίσωνται]; Luke 11:38 (2 Kings 5:14 ἐβαπτίσατο ἐν τῷ Ἰορδάνῃ, for טָבַל; Sir. 31:30 (Sir. 34:30); Judith 12:7).
3. metaphorically, to overwhelm, as ἰδιώτας ταῖς ἐισφοραῖς, Diodorus 1, 73; ὀφλήμασι, Plutarch, Galba 21; τῇ συμφορᾷ βεβαπτισμένος, Heliodorus Aeth. 2, 3; and alone, to inflict great and abounding calamities on one: ἐβάπτισαν τὴν πόλιν, Josephus, b. j. 4, 3, 3; ἡ ἀνομία με βαπτίζει, Isaiah 21:4 Sept. hence, βαπτίζεσθαι βάπτισμα (cf. Winers Grammar, 225 (211); [Buttmann, 148 (129)]; cf. λούεσθαι τὸ λουτρόν, Aelian de nat. an. 3, 42), to be overwhelmed with calamities, of those who must bear them, Matthew 20:22f Rec.; Mark 10:38; Luke 12:50 (cf. the German etwas auszubaden haben, and the use of the word e. g. respecting those who cross a river with difficulty, ἕως τῶν μαστῶν οἱ πεζοὶ βαπτιζόμενοι διέβαινον, Polybius 3, 72, 4; [for examples see ''Sophocles''<nowiki/>' Lexicon under the word; also ''T. J. Conant'', Baptizein, its meaning and use, N. Y. 1864 (printed also as an Appendix to their revised version of the Gospel of Matthew by the "American Bible Union"); and especially four works by J. W. Dale entitled Classic, Judaic, Johannic, Christic, Baptism, Phil. 1867ff; ''D. B. Ford'', Studies on the Bapt. Quest. (including a review of Dr. Dale's works), Bost. 1879]).
II. In the N. T. it is used particularly of the rite of sacred ablution, first instituted by John the Baptist, afterward by Christ's command received by Christians and adjusted to the contents and nature of their religion (see βάπτισμα, 3), viz., an immersion in water, performed as a sign of the removal of sin, and administered to those who, impelled by a desire for salvation, sought admission to the benefits of the Messiah's kingdom; [for patristic references respecting the mode, ministrant, subjects, etc. of the rite, cf. ''Sophocles'' Lexicon, under the word; Dict. of Chris. Antiq. under the word Baptism].
a. The word is used absolutely, to administer the rite of ablution, to baptize (Vulg. baptizo; Tertullian tingo, tinguo [cf. mergito, de corona mil. § 3]): Mark 1:4; John 1:25f, 28; John 3:22f, 26; John 4:2; John 10:40; 1 Corinthians 1:17; with the cognate noun τὸ βάπτισμα, Acts 19:4; ὁ βαπτίζων substantively equivalent to ὁ βαπτιστης, Mark 6:14 [Mark 6:24 T Tr WH]. τινά, John 4:1; Acts 8:38; 1 Corinthians 1:14, 16. Winer's Grammar, § 38, 4 b.]); Acts 22:16. followed by a dative of the thing with which baptism is performed, ὕδατι, see bb. below.
b. with prepositions;
aa. εἰς, to mark the element into which the immersion is made: εἰς τὸν Ἰορδάνην, Mark 1:9. to mark the end: εἰς μετάνοιαν, to bind one to repentance, Matthew 3:11; εἰς τὸ Ἰωάννου βάπτισμα, to bind to the duties imposed by John's baptism, Acts 19:3 [cf. ==== Per Outline of Biblical Usage ====
# to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)
# to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe
# to overwhelm  "''Note on Baptism in Ac.'' Baptism in water (such as John's) is distinguished from baptism with the Holy Spirit (i. 5, etc.). Those who receive the latter, however, may also be baptized in water (cf. xi. 16 with x. 47); and there is one example of people who had previously received John's baptism receiving Christian baptism as a preliminary to receiving the Spirit (xix. 3 ff.). John's was a baptism of repentance (xiii. 24; xix. 4), as was also Christian baptism (ii. 38), but as John's pointed forward to Jesus (xix. 4), it became obsolete when He came. Christian baptism followed faith in the Lord Jesus (xvi. 31 ff.); it was associated with His name (ii. 38; viii. 16, etc.), which was invoked by the person baptized (xxii. 16); it signified the remission (ii. 38) or washing away of sins (xxii. 16); sometimes it preceded (ii. 38; viii. 15 ff.; xix. 5), sometimes followed (x. 47 f.) the receiving of the Spirit." (F. F. Bruce. ''The Acts of the Apostles'' [Greek Text Commentary], London: Tyndale, 1952, p. 98, n. 1.)  This word should not be confused with ''baptô'' (911). The clearest example that shows the meaning of baptizo is a text from the Greek poet and physician Nicander, who lived about 200 B.C. It is a recipe for making pickles and is helpful because it uses both words. Nicander says that in order to make a pickle, the vegetable should first be 'dipped' (''baptô'') into boiling water and then 'baptised' (''baptizô'') in the vinegar solution. Both verbs concern the immersing of vegetables in a solution. But the first is temporary. The second, the act of baptising the vegetable, produces a permanent change.

In AD 134, after a visit to Alexandria, the Emperor Hadrian wrote a letter to his elderly brother-in-law, Servianus, in which he commented: "So you praise Egypt, my very dear Servianus! I know the land from top to bottom . . . In it the worshippers of Serapis are Christians, and those who call themselves Bishops of Christ pay their vows to Serapis . . . Whenever the patriarch himself comes to Egypt he is made to worship Serapis by some and Christ by others."
== Seal of baptism ==
John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
== Cleave ==
Isa 56:1-3 Thus said Yahuah, kee ye  judgment and do justice, for my salvation is near to come and my righteousness is to be revealed. Blessed is he that doeth this and the son of man that layeth hold on it, that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the son of the stranger, <u>that hath joined himself</u> (H3867) to Yahuah speak saying, Yahuah hath utterly separated me from his people. Neither let the eunuch say, behold, I am a dry tree.
What "joined himself" in this context?
H3867 - הנּלוה - per Gesenius, there are 3 possibilities
1.) To adhere, to be joined closely to any one. Ecc 8?15, it is good for a man to eat, to drink to be merry, for this shall <u>cleave</u> to him (i.e. shall remain with him) in his labour
2.) to borrow, to receive as a loan, as if nexus est, Deu28:12; Ps37:21 Compare the Lat. Nexus, used of one whom his creditor took as a slave on account of debt. Num18:2,4; Dan11:34, Ps83:9, Gen29:34, Isa56:3; Jer50:5; Zec2:15;
2.) to lend; Isa24:2, Prov22:7;Psa112:5;Deu28:12,44; Prov19:17; Exo22:24
This word has relevance, since:
a.) We are indebted via our sins. These sins have a price on them that needs to be paid. Yahushua paid the price for us and he did so according to the law of redemption (Lev25:23 onwards)
b.) By redemption we are now property of Yahushua.
c.) The interesting thing is that, although redemption is performed by the kinsmen, it is actually a right of the individual that is/has become subject to bondage. If a person is indebted and gets sold off by the creditor, it is this debtors right to be redeemed by his kinsman or even by himself, should he be able to do so. This explains, why we need to ask Yahushua to redeem us. He is our kinsmen and he is able to redeem us, because he has the resources to do so (he can pay the price which we can't) but he does not have the right to do so, since only the debtor has. For that reason, we need to ask him to redeem us and we have his promise that he will.
== Believe in the Messiah ==
When considering the reason why some people were baptized in the new testament while others were not, one pattern that emerges is that only those that believed were baptized, for example:
* Act2:41 - Peter preached to the Judeans at Jerusalem
* Act8:12 Philip preached in Samaria; Act8:35-38 also to the Ethiopian
* Act10:44-48 Peter preached to the household of Cornelius
* Act 16:14-15 Paul preached to Lydia and other women on the river bank; Act16:30-34 to the Philippian jailer and his households; Act18:4-8 to Crispus the ruler of the synangogue, his house and many Corinthians
All these were baptized with one "qualification criteria" only, namely that they believed. But what does it mean that they "believed"? With the Ethiopian which Philip joined on his chariot ride in Act 8:37 it is very well documented that this was the only criteria for purposes of qualifying for baptism.
However, at the same time, we also have the fact that the devils in James2:19 clearly not only knew exactly who the Messiah is, they certainly believed in him and were also frightened. Yet none of those were baptized. In Luk4:41 they cry out in fear, "thou art the Messiah, the Son of Elohim". Interestingly, nowhere in scripture do we find indications that these devils are going to heaven.
The question as to what exactly "believe" means, must therefore be something more than just knowing about the Messiah and acknowledging him to be the son of Elohim.

This page is dealing with a very difficult topic and is thus an ongoing project. For me, Baptism remains a very grey area and hence the research is ongoing.

Yahushua and his baptism

Luk12:50 AMP “I have a baptism [of great suffering] with which to be baptized, and how [greatly] I am distressed until it is accomplished!

Mat20:22-18 AMP “I have a baptism [of great suffering] with which to be baptized, and how [greatly] I am distressed until it is accomplished! He said to them, “You will drink My cup [of suffering]; but to sit on My right and on My left this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” And when the [other] ten heard this, they were resentful and angry with the two brothers. But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles have absolute power and lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them [tyrannizing them].

Swearing by his Name

Deuteronomy 6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Jeremiah 4:2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

Jeremiah 4:3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

Begotten

Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Father and Son relationship

So what is begotten?

Born again

AW Pink - Regeneration is termed a "new birth", or birth from above. Birth however excludes altogether any effort or work on the part of the individual who is born. Personally, we have no more to do with our spiritual birth than we had with our physical.

Regeneration

John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

The words used

When restricting oneself to the scripture alone, it is necessary to understand that we are restricting ourself to the written form of communication. Why is this important? Because the written form of communication is a "middleman" that conveys the message to us. This middleman however only delivers the message, he does not ensure that we <u>read</u> the message correctly and also does not tend to the <u>understanding</u> of the message he so delivers.

G911 - Bapto - βάπτω

Per Strongs - full entry:

βάπτω báptō, bap'-to; a primary verb; to whelm, i.e. cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament only in a qualified or special sense, i.e. (literally) to moisten (a part of one's person), or (by implication) to stain (as with dye):—dip.

Upon analyses - two possible options stand out:

# "to immerse, dip" (derived from the root signifying "deep")

# "to dye", which is suggested by Rev19:13

, the meaning is to whelm, that is to cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament however, this word according to Strongs is used only in a "qualified or special" sense, namely, (literally) to moisten a part of one's person, or (by implication) to stain as with a dye.

G907 - baptizō - βαπτίζω

Per Strongs - full entry:

βαπτίζω baptízō, bap-tid'-zo; from a derivative of G911; to immerse, submerge; to make whelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism:—Baptist, baptize, wash.

Per Thayer's Greek Lexicon - full entry:

βαπτίζω; [imperfect ἐβάπτιζον]; future βαπτίσω; 1 aorist ἐβάπτισα; passive [present βαπτίζομαι]; imperfect ἐβαπτιζόμην; perfect participle βεβαπτισμένος; 1 aorist ἐβαπτίσθην; 1 future βαπτισθήσομαι; 1 aorist middle ἐβαπτισάμην; (frequently [?] from βάπτω, like βαλλίζω from βάλλω); here and there in Plato, Polybius, Diodorus, Strabo, Josephus, Plutarch, others. II. In the N. T. it is used particularly of the rite of sacred ablution, first instituted by John the Baptist, afterward by Christ's command received by Christians and adjusted to the contents and nature of their religion (see βάπτισμα, 3), viz., an immersion in water, performed as a sign of the removal of sin, and administered to those who, impelled by a desire for salvation, sought admission to the benefits of the Messiah's kingdom; [for patristic references respecting the mode, ministrant, subjects, etc. of the rite, cf. Per Outline of Biblical Usage

  1. to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)
  2. to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe
  3. to overwhelm "Note on Baptism in Ac. Baptism in water (such as John's) is distinguished from baptism with the Holy Spirit (i. F. Bruce. The Acts of the Apostles [Greek Text Commentary], London: Tyndale, 1952, p. 98, n. 1.) This word should not be confused with baptô (911). The clearest example that shows the meaning of baptizo is a text from the Greek poet and physician Nicander, who lived about 200 B.C. It is a recipe for making pickles and is helpful because it uses both words. Nicander says that in order to make a pickle, the vegetable should first be 'dipped' (baptô) into boiling water and then 'baptised' (baptizô) in the vinegar solution. Both verbs concern the immersing of vegetables in a solution. But the first is temporary. The second, the act of baptising the vegetable, produces a permanent change.

A "derivative" means it is a word formed from another word or base. in this case it is

Death

Do we really understand what death is? Yahushua, who was confident in all of Yah's ways, was distressed and prayed before his torture. He confirmed that "if there is no other way" he would do it. Does it really make sense for him to implement such procedure for everyone that wants to follow him? Is it not him that went the way we can't go since it would destroy us? Is it not true that the wild olive is to be grafted into the true olive tree which has the strong root, i.e. Yahushua? Is it not that we live not on our own resources but on his?

Sin has a price and that price is to be paid. Yahushua does save us therefrom by paying that price, his death counts for our death.

How do we arrive at the conclusion that via Baptism, we "die a symbolic death" and Yahushua resurrects us like Yah resurrected Yahushua?

1Cor15:21 For since by man came death, by man also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Messiah shall al be made alive. But every man in his own order. Messiah the firstfruits, afterward they that are Messiahs at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to Eloheem, even the Father when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign till he hat put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed, is death.

  • How do we die? We die as in Adam. How did Adam die? He died on account of his sins. The death is linked to sin. How did Yahushua die? He was murdered. There was no reason for him to die, he was not in Adam as we are.
  • Yahushua is all about the resurrection, not the death. Now just like we are in death as in Adam, we will be resurrected in Yahushua. When? According to the order. Messiah is the firstfruits, he is already resurrected. Those that belong to Messiah, at his coming. When is his coming? It is when the kingdoms according to the dream of Nebuchadnezzar comes to an end. In the timeline, we are in the feet of iron and clay which will be hit by the small rock causing the stature to break, bringing an end to all rule and establishing Yahushua's 1000 year rule of peace.
  • During Yahushua's reign he will destroy all enemies. Death is one of them. How will death go away? By having sin go away. Why will there be no more sin? Because the law has been written on our hearts and there will be no more transgression.

Remember to also examine the word sleep - as in Job 14 - they shall not be raised out of their sleep.

What about the condition that Yahuah has cursed us with? Rom11:8 According as it is written, Eloheem hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should nto see, and ears that they should not hear unto this day. Rom11:14 if by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. For if the casting away of the be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead (G3498 nekros - νεκρός)? Jes29:10 For Yahuah hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes. The prophets and your rules, the seers hat he covered and the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which deliver to one that is learned, saying Read this, I pray thee, and he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed.

Egeiro - greek word G1453 ἐγείρω

Strongs G1453 - Probably akin to the base of G58 (through the idea of collecting one’s faculties); to waken (transitively or intransitively), that is, rouse (literally from sleep, from sitting or lying, from disease, from death; or figuratively from obscurity, inactivity, ruins, nonexistence): - awake, lift (up), raise (again, up), rear up, (a-) rise (again, up), stand, take up.

Strongs G58 - From ἀγείρω “ageiro” (to gather; probably akin to G1453); properly the town square (as a place of public resort); by implication a market or thoroughfare: - market (-place), street.

Thayer G1453 - verb - To arouse, cause to rise. To arouse from sleept, to awake. To arouse from the sleep of death, to recall the dead to life. To cause to rise from a seat or bed etc. To raise up, produce, cause to appear, bring to public / raise up, stir up, against one / to raise up, i.e. cause to be born / of buildings - to raise up, construct, erect

Elberfelder 1447 - erwachen, aufwachen, aufwecken.

It is clear from the above that this word has nothing to do with the process of how someone or something got into a certain negative situation, but rather with that person or thing recovered from that negative situation. It is not referencing the person being transferred into the sleeping state, but how the person is transferred from it.

Cambridge Dictionary:

Obscurity - the state of not being known to many people. The state or quality of being unclear and difficult to understand or see

This is the "refreshing"

Isa28:12 To whom he said, This [is] the rest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this [is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Is this "refreshing not something like the "rebirth"?

The potters vessel used to draw water is broken

Isaiah 30:11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

  • Take note who goes up against them

Isaiah 30:12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

Isaiah 30:13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

Isaiah 30:14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water [withal] out of the pit.

  • So the "method" by which Yahuah goes up against them, is by breaking the potters vessel. This is relevant because it is used to take fire from the hearth and water out the pit. Which fire? and what water?

Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

Abraham was "redeemed"

Jes29:22 Therefore thus saith Yahuah, who redeemed (H6299 - פדה ) Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall hsi face now wax pale.

Steekdoring

Look at the word, it says something with connection to "bitter", as in "hurting".

Use of the words in general, everyday situations

When examining words and the meanings thereof, we need to look at all the situations where the word came into use. The context of these situations where the words are applied, will allow us to gain more information, another angle of understanding which we should then use while interpreting the meaning of the word.

John 13:26 - Yahushua dip's the bread in the

Jesus G2424 answered, G611 He G1565 it is, G2076 to whom G3739 I shall give G1929 a sop, G5596 when I G1473 have dipped G911 it. And G2532 when he had dipped G1686 the sop, G5596 he gave G1325 it to Judas G2455 Iscariot, G2469 the son of Simon. G4613

We all know this section very well. Yahushua dips the bread in the sauce and hands it to Judas. This follows after Yahushua said that he was troubled in spirit and that someone would betray him. The disciples were doubting, whom he would be referring to and Peter thus asked whom it is that he is speaking about. Then Yahushua answered per John13:26.

The first thing to note is that Yahushua did not simply provide the answer. Instead, he dipped the sop and then gave it to the one whom it is. The question we should ask is why does Yahushua act this way? What message is contained in his reaction?

Let's finish off the scene by having a look at what happened afterwards. It is all contained in the next verse, John 13:27

John 13:27 And G2532 after G3326 the sop G5596 G5119 Satan G4567 entered G1525 into G1519 him. G1565 Then G3767 said G3004 Jesus G2424 unto him, G846 That G3739 thou doest, G4160 do G4160 quickly. G5032

Sir Alan Gardiner - British Egyptologist

Initiation into the Serapis cult included the rite of baptism, and Sir Alan Gardiner, the British Egyptologist, argued in the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology in 1950 that Egyptian baptism should be seen as analogous to Christian baptism, of which he commented: "In both cases a symbolic cleansing by means of water serves as initiation into a properly legitimated religious life." The cults of Serapis and Isis did not merely survive the emergence of Christianity, but in the 2nd century AD actually increased in popularity. Serapis and Christ existed side-by-side and were frequently seen as interchangeable. Some early Christians made no distinction between Christ and Serapis and frequently worshipped both, while paintings of Isis with her son Horus became identified by early Christians as portraits of Mary with her son Jesus. The rite of baptism, part of the initiation ceremony of the Serapis cult, was also adopted by the Church as part of its initiation ceremony.

Seal of baptism

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Cleave

Isa 56:1-3 Thus said Yahuah, kee ye judgment and do justice, for my salvation is near to come and my righteousness is to be revealed. Blessed is he that doeth this and the son of man that layeth hold on it, that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself (H3867) to Yahuah speak saying, Yahuah hath utterly separated me from his people. Neither let the eunuch say, behold, I am a dry tree.

What "joined himself" in this context?

H3867 - הנּלוה - per Gesenius, there are 3 possibilities

1.) To adhere, to be joined closely to any one. Ecc 8?15, it is good for a man to eat, to drink to be merry, for this shall cleave to him (i.e. shall remain with him) in his labour

2.) to borrow, to receive as a loan, as if nexus est, Deu28:12; Ps37:21 Compare the Lat. Nexus, used of one whom his creditor took as a slave on account of debt. Num18:2,4; Dan11:34, Ps83:9, Gen29:34, Isa56:3; Jer50:5; Zec2:15;

Believe in the Messiah

When considering the reason why some people were baptized in the new testament while others were not, one pattern that emerges is that only those that believed were baptized, for example:

  • Act2:41 - Peter preached to the Judeans at Jerusalem
  • Act8:12 Philip preached in Samaria; Act8:35-38 also to the Ethiopian
  • Act10:44-48 Peter preached to the household of Cornelius
  • Act 16:14-15 Paul preached to Lydia and other women on the river bank; Act16:30-34 to the Philippian jailer and his households; Act18:4-8 to Crispus the ruler of the synangogue, his house and many Corinthians

Ese 11:19

19  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 20  That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
