			He couldn’t even bend his knees to pray. He didn’t say the sinner’s prayer and among other things, he was a criminal and he was worthy of death.

			Jesus didn’t take way his pain, heal his body, or smite his scoffers.

			He was a thief who walked into paradise the same hour as Jesus simply by believing.

			He had nothing more to offer other than his belief that Jesus was who He said He was.

			No spin from brilliant theologians.

			No ego or arrogance.

			No shiny lights, skinny jeans, or crafty words.

			No haze machine, donuts, or coffee in the lobby.

			Just a naked dying man on a cross unable to even fold his hands to pray.

			For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that WHOEVER believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

			When considering the reason why some people were baptized in the new testament while others were not, one pattern that emerges is that only those that believed were baptized, for example:

			* Act2:41 - Peter preached to the Judeans at Jerusalem
			* Act8:12 Philip preached in Samaria; Act8:35-38 also to the Ethiopian
			* Act10:44-48 Peter preached to the household of Cornelius
			* Act 16:14-15 Paul preached to Lydia and other women on the river bank; Act16:30-34 to the Philippian jailer and his households; Act18:4-8 to Crispus the ruler of the synangogue, his house and many Corinthians

			All these were baptized with one "qualification criteria" only, namely that they believed. But what does it mean that they "believed"? With the Ethiopian which Philip joined on his chariot ride in Act 8:37 it is very well documented that this was the only criteria for purposes of qualifying for baptism.

			However, at the same time, we also have the fact that the devils in James2:19 clearly not only knew exactly who the Messiah is, they certainly believed in him and were also frightened. Yet none of those were baptized. In Luk4:41 they cry out in fear, "thou art the Messiah, the Son of Elohim". Interestingly, nowhere in scripture do we find indications that these devils are going to heaven.

			The question as to what exactly "believe" means, must therefore be something more than just knowing about the Messiah and acknowledging him to be the son of Elohim.
